Famous Celebrity Wives are all set to feature in an upcoming TV Show to be hosted by designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. To be called “The First Ladies with Abu Sandeep” the show will start on January 3rd, 2009 .“The First Ladies with Abu Sandeep” will be aired on lifestyle channel NDTV Good Times from January 3. It will be telecast every Saturday at 10 p.m. and the first episode would have Nita Ambani as the guest.


From Bollywood celeb wives Jaya Bachchan, Gauri Khan, Suzanne Roshan, Manyatta Dutt, Adhuna Akhtar, Anupama Chopra, Tanya Deol, Kirron Kher to others like Maharani Padmini Devi, Nita Ambani, Neerja Birla and Usha Mittal - many will be seen on the show. Aishwarya Rai refuses fairness ads

I think this is one celebrity who does what she believes in (Very Imp in a world of glamourous fakes). By refusing a fairness cream ad she is sending she right message - basically that beauty is not based on skin color. I then read that the cosmetic company in question was trying to get back at Aishwarya ( for doing the right thing by projecting her as old) After Aishwarya turned down the offer, the cosmetic company signed Sonam Kapoor to endorse the fairness cream. The cosmetic company is positioning Sonam as a ‘young face’, as opposed to Aishwarya who may now be called the ‘older face’ of the cosmetic industry. I understand that despite the money and publicity being good ( Sonam has grabbed the offer) , “It was the fairness cream that bothered Aishwarya. She said that she didn’t want to promote a fairness cream especially in India where one’s skin colour is such a big issue. She will never promote a product that discriminates on the basis of one’s skin colour. Ours is a society where biases are so prevalent that she will do all she can to curb it.” Aishwarya is primarily guided by her sense of ethics as far as advertising is concerned. She was recently offered a fortune to replace Rani Mukherjee to endorse a popular mosquito repellent cream, but she turned down the offer. So when the ad comes out you will know which stupid cosmetics company tried to get nasty with Aishwarya for doing the right thing. I for one will not buy their products thenceforth in support of Aishwarya doing the right thing which is not always easy to do.

Ghajini has a record breaking opening

Aamir Khan's latest film "Ghajini" has officially had a rocking opening at the BO with a 100 percent collections across India on its opening day December 25th says an executive of the movie's India distributor. Aamir Khan, also said (at a preview theatre in Mumbai ) that "Ghajini" has tickets sold in advance for all five days of the opening week across the country. The movie has been released within the country with 1400 prints. Reliance BIG Pictures has released 213 prints overseas. Meanwhile, "Ghajini" raked in Rs.70 million during 650 paid previews at multiplexes in India on Wednesday.

Salman Khan paints Aamir Khan's Ghajini look Some Photos

Salman Khan is once again in news for his paintings. This time he has done paintings of his good friend Aamir Khan. Salman is fond of Aamir and has painted some portraits of the actor on black canvasses, showing his interpretations of the character Aamir plays in the film “Ghajni”. Though he has painted actors in the past, this is the first time Salman has painted a character from a movie. The paintings were unveiled to the media at INOX in the presence of lead actress from the film Asin who is also starring in Salman's film “London Dreams”. In fact, Salman, Katrina and his family also attended a private preview of “Ghajini” at Mukesh and Nita Ambani’s house on December 21 and both of them like the film.

Akshay Kumar says no to a promotion of his upcoming movie CC2C promo at the Special Olympics in Delhi yesterday. Its really nice to see a movie star do something purely for charity rather than for self interest eg money, advertising or film promotion.
Akshay's role was to run to and back from the Red Fort to Sheesh Dargah in Chandni Chowk at Delhi on Sunday. He apparently requested a Warner Brothers employee to remove all posters of CC2C along the way of the route he was going to run on Sunday for the Special Olympics as he was there for the special olympics and not for the film and media attention.
The Special Olympics World Games is an international sporting competition for athletes with intellectual disabilities, organised by Special Olympics. The event is part of the Global Law Enforcement Torch Run which Akshay was to do is a signature event honoring the Special Olympics movement.Delhi shares the honour of hosting the torch run described as the Flame of Hope with cities like, Athens, Johannesburg, San Jose (Costa Rica), Warsaw, Shanghai, New York, Abu Dhabi, Miami and Los Angeles.From November 12 2008 to January 24, 2009, the Flame of Hope torch will travel more than 60,000 km to 10 cities across five continents. Aamir Khan the Barber for Ghajini

I read recently that Aamir Khan joked about the haircutting session at Delhi ( promo event for Ghajini) as being a promotion for Shahrukh Khans Billoo Barber since it was Aamir Khan who was being barber to his fans by cutting their hair in his famous Ghajini haircut look.

Apparently a four year old fan, Kaavya was so keen to have a haircut despite being a girl as Aamir asked her, “Beta, do you want a Ghajini hair cut?” and she nodded her head, “Yes,” “Soch lo fir,” said Aamir, but Kaavya had done that already and kept on nodding. Aamir then asked the crowd, “She is looking so pretty, guys do you want me to give her the Ghajini look?” and the crowd was not for it, Aamir finally gave Shivek, a student of Modern School a haircut after speaking with his father and brother. The crowd wanted more of Aamir, and were screaming for him to take off his shirt. But Aamir just teased them a bit by pulling off his tee a bit and then asked, “Yaar jara Behka gaana chalao.”

Of course he was there for the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2009 Event as was Rahul Bose. But nevertheless it was nice to see a Bollywood celebrity be there in support.

Why is Aamir Khan promoting Asin so much ?

Its a valid question. I mean there are too many cases of him recommending her much more than his other heroines in the past. Asin in the Tanishq ad. Some Photos. But have you guys noticed the Ghajini and Aamir connection for this ad ? Tanishq is owned by the Tatas and so is Titan for which Aamir is brand ambassador. Also I read that Aamir has recommended Asin for the new Tata Sky Plus ads ( whether in place of or along with Gul Panag is not clear yet and this s confirmed news which I had also mentioned earlier) The question is why is Aamir promoting Asin so much. This is much more than he has ever promoted any of his previous heroines like Rani Mukherjee ( Ghulam & Mangal Pandey) and Gracy Singh ( Lagaan) . Its food for thought ?

Amitabh Bachcan and Shahrukh Khan started the trend with Om Shanti Om and Nishabd, Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif ( Singh is King), Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif ( Yuvraaj), then again Shahrukh and Anoushka in Rab Ne and now it will be Aamir Khan and Asin + Jiah Khan in Ghajini. Trust Aamir not be happy with just one young nubile starlet like the others but he always wants more, better and to be ahead - so he has two young nubile starlets in his movie where all the others made do with one!

Wouldnt I have loved to be a fly on the wall at this event to hear the conversation that generated those friendly pecks between Shahrukh and Anoushka. An auction of celebrity memorabilia during the Cinema Against AIDS gala presented by the Dubai International Film Festival last week, has raised $1.8 million for the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR), WAM reported.

The event, sponsored by the high-end jewellers Dubai Pearl with Cartier as the Grand Patron, was attended by a galaxy of stars, who included India's Preity Zinta. Here are some photos of Preity at the auction charity event and gala dinner with Deepa Mehta.

Friday's auction was opened by Mexican-American actress Salma Hayek who placed for bidding a Cartier bracelet carrying her signature, which sold for $80,000.

The American charity amfAR is one of the world's leading nonprofit organizations dedicated to the support of AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education, and the advocacy of sound AIDS-related public policy. Its great to see our Bollywood stars lending a helping hand for charity. Usually when it comes to giving donations and charity even though they earn so much very few Bollywood celebs actually put their money where their heartfelt mouth is.

Aamir Khan's Aggressive Ghajini Promo

The way Aamir Khan is promoting Ghajini is definitely causing a lot of hype for the movie.

First it was Cinemax employees getting the Ghajini haircut ( that Aamir has in Ghajini), then Inox Banglore employees and also Van Huesen fashion show models. Ironically though Aamir himself no sports the Ghajini haircut look which he has made (paid- pun fully intended) many many other people get in the last week or so. Then its Asin in the Tanishq jewellery ad. ( see the Aamir Khan connection here ? No ? Well Tanishq is a Tata company and so is Titan for which Aamir Khan is the brand ambassador) and lastly but not the least its gorgeous Jiah Khan at another promo event in Bangalore ( actually she is a Ghajini asset thats been very underplayed so far). The latest is that sources say, “Asin will soon be seen in new commercials to be shot for Tata Sky Plus, replacing Gul Panag who can be seen in the commercials that are being aired presently. But looking at the hype about this most talked about Ghajini pair, the company has decided to cash in on the popularity and Aamir has reportedly recommended her name for the same.”

Asin apparently confirmed the news and stated, “I have been signed to endorse Tata Sky but I am not sure if I have replaced Gul nor do I know if I will be working with Aamir in the promos.”

Anyway for those of you who like the Bollywood glossies like me here are photos from some of the more interesting Ghajini promo events.

Mostly overhyped movies lead to high audience expectations and when they are not met the movie collapses at the BO. Remember people Aamir is only acting in it, the movie is not directed by him otherwise I would not even think twice about its watchablity.

Guerilla Marketing /advertising as it is I believe called. So each person purchasing tickets for Shahrukh Khan's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi will see and recognize Aamir Khan's much glamorized and talked about haircut for Ghajini. Golden Globe Nomination for A.R.Rahman

Its a Golden Globe Nomination for A.R.Rahman for his music tracks in Slumdog Millionaire. The film has also earned three other nominations for Best Picture-Drama, Best Director for Boyle and Best Screenplay for Simon Beaufoy for the 2008 Golden Globe Awards given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The film tells the heart warming story of an 18-year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai who goes on to win a staggering Rs.20 million ($420,000) on India's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" game show.

Farhan Akhtar is pretty says Karan Johar

In Farhan Akhtar's new show Oye ! Its Friday ! his guest Karan Johar ( who appeared on the show along with Shamita Shetty) apparently passed a remark saying that Farhan is pretty. This next episode seems very entertaining as Farhan Akhtar thought Karan Johar was talking about Shamita Shetty who was also on the show ( the show episode will air on Friday on NDTV Imagine). But Karan clarified he was calling Farhan pretty. At first Farhan didn't know how to react. But then he quickly caught hold of himself - he's not acknowledged now as a terrific actor for nothing - and then the rest of the show became an impromptu 'Dostana' with Farhan and Karan doing what John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan did in the film," a source close to the show told IANS. To add to the 'gay' atmosphere, Kantaben (Sulabha Arya), who trembled with homophobia all through "Kal Ho Naa Ho", was brought in as a phone-in friend. "And they asked her what she thought of 'Dostana'. Sulabha said she loved it. She raved about the film for a while. Only later did Karan and Farhan realise the lady was talking about the old 'Dostana' with Amitabh Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha," the source said. It does sound interesting for sure.

Prachi Desai adfilm shoot at Ahmedabad

The shoot was for a forthcoming music video on Gujarat, conceptualised and directed by a Gujarati filmmaker that salutes the spirit of Gujarat in the face of adversity. Made on the lines of the song "Mile sur mera tumhara...", which had the concept of national integration, the video will hit the screens early 2009.

Manish Bhatt, Mumbai-based advertising guru and the force behind Jityu hamesha Gujarat' video, has composed the song for the video on the same meter as Zaverchand Meghani's famous song "Lagyo kasumbi no rang."

A sequence of this film was shot in the majestic Adalaj ni Vav with the entire team, including known faces of the entertainment industry such as Prachi Desai, Tanvi Vyas, Nidhi Seth and Mauli Dave. The latest news is that Kylie Minogue to sing for A R Rehman in the Bollywood Film 'Blue'. She will be coming to India next month with her troupe to record a song with Rahman. “Blue” which stars Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta. According to sources, Kylie has charged the producers of the film a whopping $1 million as her fees. However, she was not the first choice of Rahman. Amitabh Bachchan detained at airport for irregular gun license ?

Ok guys I read on a blog that Amitabh Bachchan had been arrested for irregularities in his gun license despite which he was attempting to carry a gun with him aboard a Jet airways flight. I was really shocked. How can he be so careless about the law and be so blatant about gun control when there are so many fans who will emulate him. Then I read another news report at Dubbagol.com which said something very different. It happened while Amitabh was on his way to Pune by way of a Jet airways flight. He checked in with a weapon for which he wasn't carrying proper license papers.

Bachchan, who was to board Jet Airways flight 9W 202 for Pune at 9.55am, had declared his weapon as part of his check-in baggage, but the documents he produced for it turned out to be those of another of his three guns.

A passenger carrying a weapon has to declare it with documents to the airline before check-in. It is only after cross-checking the documents and the make of the weapon that the airline packs it into the registered or check-in baggage.

"Bachchan had declared the weapon to the airline. However, he later realised that the documents he was carrying along were not for the same pistol,'' said an airport source. "The pistol was later sent back with his secretary,'' he added.

I read in the Mumbai Mirror today (and yesterday )about Kangana Ranaaut and Adhyayan Suman denying rumours that they were making out in the vanity van at the shooting of Raaz. APparently they botyh claim to respect Mhaesh Bhatt to much to do that and Kanagan Ranaut is also threatening not to tak part in any Raaz promos beacuse the Bhatts are lekaling out her personal life to the press.

Apprently what happened is that Kangana Ranaut and Adhyayan Suman made Emraan Hashmi really angry on the sets of Mahesh Bhatt’s Raaz 2, by keeping him waiting to shoot on the sets, while these two Kangana and Adhyayan remained locked in their vanity van. The result was that Emraan walked out of the set in a huff, leaving the shoot in doldrums.

Mumbai Mirror reported that “Kangana and Adhyayan were locked in their vanity van for nearly two hours despite being required for the shot. Initially, Emraan waited for them patiently. Director Mohit Suri tried to save the situation by sending production guys to knock on their vanity van’s door to remind them about their shot. However, the production guys either felt awkward about knocking on the door or were scared of the couple’s reaction and hence chose not to disturb them.

It took nearly two hours for Kangana and Adhyayan to emerge from their vanity van. When they realised their folly, they were embarrassed about it, but it was too late to turn back the clock. Emraan had already left the sets.”

Several Bollywood celebs including Shahrukh Khan wont be celebrating Eid this year. Apparently Katrina Kaif (her dad in muslim), Irrfan Khan, Zayed Khan, Shabana Azmi, Farhan Akhtar, Javed Akhtar and many others including Shahrukh khan will wear black bands on Eid tomorrow in mourning of the Mumbai Terror blasts. Shah Rukh Khan in a media statement said, "I am happy to witness the new movement that's gripping India to bring about change. I am all for younger politicians who can bring about this change, my support lies with them. There's nothing Islamic about terrorism. I am Muslim, I read the Quran, but nowhere in the holy text does it say you can get jannat from jihaad. For peace in our nation, there's need to be peace in our hearts." I have been reading blogs Amitabh Bachchan, Abhay Deol and Aamir Khan all lambasting the terrorist attack. Its heartening to know that our Bollywood celebs have a mind and a heart.
