Amitabh Bachchan is voted sexiest vegetarian man of 2008

Amitabh Bachchan has been voted Asia’s sexiest vegetarian male in a survey conducted by animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta). Hong Kong’s singer-actress Faye Wong was voted Asia’s sexiest female vegetarian in the poll conducted among members of Peta on Wednesday. Runners-up in the competition included Taiwanese drama star Barbie Xu, Hong Kong actress Maggie Q and Cantopop singer and actress Stephy Tang. Peta Asia-Pacific director Jason Baker said: “Going vegetarian is the best thing you can do for animals, the earth and your health. Plus there’s no easier way to stay slim and sexy — and Faye and Amitabh are living proof.”
Hope thats fake fur Mr. Bachchan !!

Dog Bites Shilpa Shetty at Tirupati

Miseries come in droves and never alone. Shilpa Shetty realised this recently. Says the actress, “These have been the worst four days of my life! I was in Dubai when I suffered congestion and was down with a bad bout of cough and cold. What’s worse was that after I went to Tirupati last week and stayed over at a friend’s place, I was bitten by her dog!” Adds Shilpa “Fortunately, because it was a domestic animal, my doctor advised me against taking anti-rabies injections. Instead, I took antibiotics. The dog bite wasn’t so bad. His nails had scratched my leg and that had swollen up. It wasn’t an unfriendly dog, but I later heard that it was going through some hormonal changes.”

Shah Rukh Khan and Bachchan rivalry goes on global tours now

While Amitabh Bachchan’s Unforgettables tour – which will also have Abhiash, Preity Zinta, Riteish Deshmukh, Madhuri Dixit and Akshay Kumar – kickstarts on July 18 in Toronto, Shah Rukh has decided to begin his own Temptations Reloaded tour on June 21 at Amsterdam. This means the rivalry between the two most powerful Bollywood stars will now go global and with big stars from the industry joining either side, it is now to be seen which tour is able to garner more popularity. Confirms Mohomed Morani about SRK’s show, “Yes we are starting off from Amsterdam on June 21. In the first show, SRK, Arjun Rampal, Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor and Ganesh Hedge will perform.” And which countries are on their itinerary? Morani reveals, “The Amsterdam show will be the curtain raiser for us. A few months later, we will go for the jugular, touring all parts of the world. The media will be informed of dates, stars and venues then.” Sources say that a promo of the show has already been shot at SRK’s bungalow, Mannat. It has Shah Rukh saying, “The wait is over, I am coming to your city.” The buzz about rivalry between the stars started after Shah Rukh stepped in as the host on Kaun Banega Crorepati and did the remake of Big B’s ’70 hit, Don. Will the two coinciding world tours add more grist to the rumour mills?

Bipasha Basu gets very excited

Amole Gupte, the writer and creative director of Taare Zameen Par, allows his mind to roam freely. A trained painter, writer and graphic artiste, Amole is reportedly going to act in a Vishal Bhardwaj film. Is that true? “May be,” is all he has to say. Nothing less, and nothing more. Amole is known for the summer sessions for children. And, as much as the kids enjoy them, he enjoys them twice over. So, what are these sessions all about? What does this ‘mole frog’, as his kid friends call him, teach them? “Who? Me? Teach children? I learn from them. You look and listen keenly and you will know you have so much to learn from them,” says Amole. We put on our thinking caps and indulge in some guesswork on what he might be discussing with the kids. It is not difficult to gauge then that cinema and art must be the heart of these sessions. “Yes,” he confirms, “Art, fun and cinema feed these sessions. Audio visual art and theatre is all what happens here.” It is Taare Zameen Par that catapulted Amole into the corridors of fame. And, he talks enthusiastically about it. But, before he says anything about the film, he clarifies, “TZP is not a Bollywood film. It is a reward of eight years of patience, of experiences and conversations with children by Deepa Bhatia, my wife, and me. We feel like we are the parents of the film. It is our baby.” Amole is now working on two projects. But, he doesn’t want to give out the details so soon. “Through the film medium, I am trying to explore all factions of children. This time, I am trying to explore economic inequality,” he informs. Is there anything else he can share with us? “I will soon share the film,” he says jokingly. And, the second film? “Well, it is about the severe passion for food,” he says. We try to probe further, and he tells us, “All I can say is that Bipasha Basu is very excited about this.” That is a probable hint that Bipasha would be seen in the film.

Sikhs unhappy with Akshay Kumar jazzy turbans

Singhs are proving to be kings, at least as far as their protests against negative portrayal of Punjabis in Bollywood is concerned.
The latest in increasingly long line of movie people facing Sikh ire is Vipul Shah, producer of the Akshay Kumar-starrer Singh is Kinng. Angry that Akshay is shown with a fancily trimmed beard and wearing a pagri that looks more like a cap, Sikhs have forced film makers to withdraw two lakh posters already in the market pledging to edit out scenes depicting ‘objectionable portrayal’ of the community.
“Vipul Shah has assured us that he will shoot new sequences that show Akshay as a Sikh with unshorn beard and wearing proper turban,” Parbinder Singh, president of Sikh Brotherhood International told TOI on phone from Mumbai. “The production house would release posters of new scenes.”
Obviously, after what happened to Jo Bole So Nihaal, when community protests forced the flick off theatres across Punjab, Shah is taking no chances.
